Waterproof junction boxes are described by their number of openings, commonly 2-way, 3-way or 4-way. A 2-way box handles one cable in and one cable out (a simple splice or one fixture connection), a 3-way box suits a daisy-chain of lights or sensors, and a 4-way box works well for a central junction feeding multiple branches.
